My Reading List 2018

This is what I hope to read in the upcoming year. Making a reading list is one of my favorite things to do after Christmas, because it makes me so excited for the upcoming year. Usually my to-read list is much longer than I can possibly manage, but this year I think I have for once made one that’s within the realm of what I usually read each year, which is 100-150 books, though I’ve left my options open some with the fiction.

I am pleased to say that this year’s list, to my knowledge, is 100% Eurocentric. Also, and this is the first time I’m doing this, I’m keeping it almost exclusively gynocentric as well. I doubt that’s going to be an annual thing, but I was looking over my reading lists of the past few years and noticed that the significant majority, almost the vast majority, of books I’ve been reading are by men. That’s probably because most of the subjects I’m interested in are very male-dominated, so without an intentional selection otherwise my reading ends up being androcentric. So this year I’m going to consciously make my reading very gynocentric instead.

Other things I’ve tried to focus on are selecting more books from small publishers, and books that are originally written in European languages other than English. Within these general parameters, I just pick books on subjects I’m interested in, and preferably that are available as audiobooks.
